Snake Removal Training

We have sent five of our volunteers for off-hand snake removal training at East African Reptiles' snake farm in Watamu. The training involves an orientation to snakes and the problem of snakebite, a tour of their facility complete with the experience of handling snakes, and then the opportunity to learn how to use snake hooks and tongs, along with buckets and capture tubes, to safely catch and release venomous snakes. While we have not had enough training to handle big elapids like forest cobras and black mambas, we are able to remove non-venomous snakes, puff adders, carpet vipers, and the smaller spitting cobras.
